All In Your Own Power
How would your life change if you truly grasped the idea that it is completely in your own power to produce wealth in your life? What if you could initiate the cycle of gaining more wealth any time you wanted to? What if your new wealth mentality could take you far beyond the temporary gains of earthly riches?
And no, we’re not just talking about “a healthy money mindset.” This is something you can actually DO in order to generate wealth in your life.
But first we have to discuss some fundamental differences just to be sure we’re all on the same page.
Poverty vs. Wealth, Wealth vs. Riches
If you’ve been following us for the past couple weeks, you know we’ve been journeying through Kris Vallotton’s Book, Poverty, Riches & Wealth. If you’re just joining us now, check out these last couple of posts below:
In Chapter 3, Kris makes 2 important contrasts – poverty vs. wealth and wealth vs. riches. Let’s take a look at a few of these to set the stage.
Poverty vs. Wealth
- Poverty lives for today, but wealth leaves a legacy.
- Poverty finds a problem in every opportunity, while wealth finds an opportunity in every problem.
- Poverty feels entitled, while wealth feels empowered.
- Poverty asks, “What are you going to do for me?” Wealth asks, “Who is worthy of my investment?”
Wealth vs. Riches
- Rich people get their identity from the things they own. Wealthy people’s identity comes from who they are, not what they own.
- Rich people either spend a lot of time trying not to lose their money, or spend time wasting it on themselves. Wealthy people’s money is just an expression of who they are, so they are confident in their well-being.
- Rich people think of their assets, while wealthy people dream of their legacy.
- Rich people think their money protects them; they have a sense of being above the law. But wealthy people are inherently humble, because they are thankful, knowing that the source of their provision is the Lord.
- The rich person’s business goal is to make money, whereas a wealthy person’s profession yields profit as the fruit of serving others well.
Now you’ll notice here the key difference between the wealthy and the rich is not a different economic status, but rather a different heart & mind status. Earthly riches are not inherently evil but, just like any other idol – they have the ability to exacerbate evil in you if your heart and mind are not in the right place. And the right place always means in relationship with Papa God, guided by Holy Spirit, completely surrendered to King Jesus.
Give and It Will Be Given To You
If you’ve read our post on Fertile Soil Friday, you know how passionate we are about giving as the essential tool to expand your platform to receive. In the words of Kris,
As it outlines in Luke 6:38, all prosperity begins and ends with your choice to give. This means it is completely in your power to generate wealth, to sow seeds for next year’s crop and set yourself up for massive returns in the kingdom. You have all the power to guide the cycle of wealth generation in your life.
Every Believer is Called to be Wealthy
Now that we’ve used Kris’ examples to outline the essential differences between poverty, riches & wealth, we hope it’s easy for you to see that every believer is called to be wealthy. This doesn’t necessarily mean that every believer is called to treasure chests filled with assets, but rather hearts, minds and actions compelled by an attitude of wealth.
We are all called to give and be generous. After all, that is the first thing God did for us, he GAVE of himself. And when we give to God, scripture says it doesn’t just end there.
“Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”
– Matthew 13:8, New Living Translation
What do you think about generating wealth in your own power through your generosity? Where does this bring up questions and concerns in your own life?
